Depression and Cultural Expectations

Felicha Laforest recently appeared on a podcast where she spoke openly about depression and the role cultural expectations play in shaping how people experience and respond to it. She highlighted the stigma that often surrounds mental health in many communities and discussed the pressure individuals face to meet cultural or family standards, which can make seeking help even harder. Through the conversation, Felicha emphasized the importance of breaking down these barriers, normalizing open dialogue, and creating safe spaces where people can address depression without fear of judgment.

EMDR Therapist

Felicha Laforest explores how her clinic’s clinicians are equipped with a diverse range of training and language capabilities, including specialties in both DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). She delves into why DBT is in demand, then shifts focus to EMDR—explaining what it involves and affirming that clinicians at her practice are actively trained in and offer EMDR therapy. This highlights the clinic’s commitment to providing a variety of evidence-based, culturally inclusive treatment options.
